Rose Viola Anderson

In 1942, Rose was employed at the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I). While working at L&I she met Wilford Christian Olsen at Sylvester Park in Downtown Olympia. They were married shortly after on June 5, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. Rose and Wilford moved around a lot while Wilford was serving in the Army. While stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Rose worked for the Air Force. Later, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Rose worked at a plant making bullets for the Military.

They later moved back home and started a family. Gerald (Jerry) Olsen was born in 1945. They moved to Orem, Utah shortly after Jerry was born for one year before they finally settled in Lacey, Washington in 1947. Soon after they had three more children; Sheryl, Karen, and Shirley.

Sadly, Wilford passed away in 1980. Rose began going to the singles events at her church for comfort and support. It was here where she met Wilbur (Andy) Anderson. They later married on April 17, 1981. Rose and Andy loved to travel together. They spent many years in Arizona for the winter before it became too hard to travel. They spent a lot of their free time playing the game Boggle with their grandchildren.

Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed drawing, painting, collecting dolls, hiking and camping. Rose was known for always bringing home gifts and writing letters from “Santa” to her great-grandchildren. She also taught Sunday School at the Assembly of God (Evergreen Christian Community). Rose loved the Lord and was a member of Evergreen Christian Community for over 70 years.

Rose was preceded in death by her second husband Andy Anderson, her son Jerry Olsen, and her grandson Shaun Marolf. She is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl Vance, Karen Kelly, and Shirley Allen. She had nine grandchildren, Leslie Frank (Tom), Lee Hermann, Debbie Hermann, Brad Olsen (Kathy), Aaron Olsen, Rick Kelly (Jenn), April Kelly, Tenika Reeves, and Amber Baker (Jared). She also had 17 great-grandchildren, Katherine Hahn (Baylor), Matthew Frank (Olivia), Ethan Hermann, Evahea Hermann, Drew Talcott Hermann, Brandon Sanderson, Megan Lawrence, Nicholas Olsen, Miranda Olsen (Nic), and Derek Olsen, Alexis Olsen, Grace Trumble (Jim), Tyler Kelly, Levi Kelly, Adaya Coleman, Ariana Coleman, and Dakota Baker.
