Phyllis Joy Emry (Alkire), aged 101, passed away on December 1, 2024, in Olympia, WA. Born on February 7, 1923, Phyllis lived a life marked by love, independence, and dedication to her family and community.
Phyllis was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Scott and Helen Emry, and Greg and Patty Emry. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Craig Emry, Wendy Gainer, Erinn Aarts, Kevin Emry, and Shea Emry, and her great-grandchildren, Alexandria Gainer, Alyssa Petrozzi, Logan and Luke Emry, Emry and Caity Aarts, Jasper, James, and Scarlett Emry, Rozen and Clooney Emry. Additionally, she was blessed with a great-great-granddaughter, Blakely Lynn Petrozzi. Phyllis also leaves behind her sister, Lois Check, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rip E. Emry, and her son, Les Emry.
Phyllis retired from the State of Washington retirement services, where she dedicated many years to serving the public with diligence and care. Her commitment to community extended to her active participation at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Lacey, WA.
Phyllis was an avid golfer, fisher, reader, and gardener. She cherished having weekly luncheons with her family, watching the Seattle Mariners and playing cards with her friends and family, sharing joy and laughter in every game.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, at 4 pm at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Lacey, WA. Phyllis's life was a testament to her loving, caring nature and her spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
