She served in the United States Navy until her marriage to Gary Lee Barnes in 1967, going on to start a family and to support Gary’s Naval career until his retirement in 1982, at which time they settled into civilian life in the Olympia area. Shortly after moving to Olympia, Lola began a career with the State of Washington, working for the Department of Licensing until her retirement, circa 2008.
Lola was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother, Benjamin Nottingham Jr, and her ex-husband Gary. She is survived by her two children with Gary, Michael and Michelle, her sisters Mary and Fannie, and many nieces and nephews.
A cremation and private burial are planned for Lola.
