Jeff was born on 01/18/1959 in Olympia to Mickey and Glory McGuire. He lived in Olympia his entire life. Jeff passed away on Wednesday 03/08/2023.
Jeff was known by two nicknames. In his younger years, he was known as “Tramp”. When he was 5, living in Thompson Place, he decided to follow newspaper boy into the woods. He got lost and the police found him. He told them “I saw a big kitty in the tree”. From that time on, he was known as Tramp. When Jeff worked at Kell Chuck Glass, there was another Jeff, so he was called “McGoo”. This was from his Irish heritage and a take on his last name. He was called McGoo from that time forward by friends, co-workers, and family.
While working at Kell Chuck as a glass glazer, he worked in Denmark, Colorado, Arizona, and western Washington. He enjoyed his work. He also worked for Olympia Glass and Lacey Glass.
In 2010, he was diagnosed with MS, which ended his career.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Megan McGuire (Olympia), step-daughter Ashley Davis (New Orleans), sister Terri McGuire-Yurkas (Olympia), brother John McGuire (Yelm), and 2 grandchildren Brinlee and Donovan. His brother, Marty McGuire (Olympia) passed away in 2020.
Jeff liked old cars, drag races, and puttering around the house (which has been in the family for over 65 years).
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 1st, at Fatso’s on Martin Way from 2pm to 4pm
