Gary returned to his heavenly home June 21, 2015 after a tough battle with cancer at the age of 72. His devotion to his family and belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Gary graduated from Olympia High School in 1961. Shortly after high school he joined the Navy and later the National Guard. He enjoyed a 30 year career for Washington State DOT and was proud of the 23 years he taught Karate. He and his fiancée Daphne Niemann enjoyed reading scripture, attending church and dancing. He will be remembered for his love of the Lord, his church family at Hope Community Church, great sense of humor, helping others and passion for life.
Gary is survived by his fiancée Daphne Niemann; his daughter Nicole Nelson and husband Dr. Christopher Nelson; his daughter Angela Japhet and husband Ben Japhet; grandchildren Sonya Japhet, Adriana Nelson and Jenelle Japhet; his brother Douglas Lozier of Silver Creek and sister Sandra Lozier Kennedy of Puyallup and numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Helen Lozier and brother-in-law Jack Kennedy.
A memorial celebration will be held honoring his life at Hope Community Church at 2425 Black Lake Blvd., Olympia 98512 on July 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm. A special thank you to everyone who watched over and prayed for Gary during his battle with cancer.
