Eugene L. "Steve" Stevens My father's amazing journey ended March 1, 2013. It began September 15, 1917 in Omaha Nebraska. He served in the Navy during three wars, earning medals, ribbons, 3 bronze stars and a silver star. This humble man did not speak of his heroism. After 30 years in the navy he retired in 1967. He and my mother took their AirStream trailer, finding many square dances along the way. My mother, Loma Mae Stevens, died in 1990 but my father only quit dancing in the past few years. He was loving, humorous, a news-junkie, an wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by MaryJane Long (daughter), Sharon Long Ernst (granddaughter), Ken Long (grandson), and seven great-grandchildren: Evan Baerny, Emma Baerny, Kendra Long, Tyler Long, Grant Long, Paul Medal, and Bailee Medal; and his biggest fan and friend, Audrey Stehr. Memorial service to be handled by MIlls & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater.
