EULOGY: By Kyle Laird
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the beloved son of David and Wendy Laird, Eric Matthew Laird. He touched the lives of many people, and his presence will be deeply missed. We gather here today to celebrate his remarkable life and the lasting impact he made on all of us.
Eric was born on December 22nd, and from a young age, he brought joy and love to those around him. He was the youngest member of his family, and his siblings, Kyle, James, Tina, Charity, and Hassall, held a special place in his heart. Eric's role as the baby of the family brought an unwavering protectiveness that defined his character.
To his wife, Hema, Eric was not only a loving husband but also a true partner and best friend. Their unbreakable bond was built on love, and shared dreams. They created countless memories together and their love for family was evident in everything they did.
During his high school years, Eric's mischievous nature added a spark of laughter and sometimes stress to our lives. He had a knack for finding humor in everyday moments, and his pranks brought joy and lightness to those around him. But, he possessed a heart of gold, and always stood up for those who couldn't defend themselves.
Eric's love extended to his four-legged companions: Drake, Lucas, LunaTuna, and the occasional visits from Gus. These furry friends were more than pets; they were part of the family, offering unconditional love and companionship.
As an uncle, Eric embraced his role with open arms, showering his nieces, Ina and Mehana McCloud with affection, laughter, a sense of wonder, and sometimes, a few new dance moves. His presence in their lives brought immeasurable joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In service to his country, Eric found purpose and a sense of brotherhood in the military. He formed unbreakable bonds with his platoon, creating a tight-knit family away from home. They shared experiences, and camaraderie and forged friendships that will forever be cherished. Eric's heart was to serve and help others, regardless of the circumstances. He had the ability to show up for everyone, lending a helping hand, a listening ear, or a comforting presence, and his trust and his kindness touched the lives of many people.
With dreams of a brighter future, Eric had plans to continue his education in the fall, building a better life alongside his beloved wife. As we come to terms with the loss of our Eric, we remember the unique blend of laughter and love he brought into our lives. His ability to push people's buttons with a mischievous grin, followed by infectious laughter, is etched in our memories. Though he is gone from our sight, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts forever, and we will always miss him.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Eric's life and the profound impact he made on us, sharing the memories, the love, and the laughter we enjoyed together. Rest in eternal peace, dear Eric. You were a beacon of light and love, and your memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts. Till we meet again.
