Emily ( Lovely) Tillman, age 85, died of complications from Parkinson’s disease, while surrounded by family on Tuesday August 4th, 2015. She was born in Olympia, Washington on March 11th, 1930 to Emil and Agnes Lovely.
Emily was a member of the Black Lake Grange for over 50 years, a member of Thurston County Pomona Grange, Washington State Grange as well as the National Grange. In 1993 she was selected as Granger of the year.
Emily met her husband, Otto Tillman a Navy Veteran, at a Grange dance and they married June 20th, 1946. She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Palmen, Wanda (Bill) Coats and Gail ( Dan) Roehl; one son Steve (Tracey); twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Goldsby and two brothers, Leroy and Allen Lovely. Emily is preceded in death by her husband, Otto Tillman and two grandchildren.
Known for her Strawberry Jam, Emily was an avid gardener and homemaker. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved gathering her family around the table in celebration. Reading was one of her favorite pastimes, had a love for camping and was a dedicated bowler for over 45 years in various bowling leagues throughout Olympia. Spending time with her friends and family was her greatest joy in life.
Visitation will be on Friday August 14th from 3:00pm until 5: 00pm at Mills & Mills Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home Saturday, August 15th at 12: 00pm with a reception immediately following at Brighton Park Grange located at 815 73rd Avenue SW, Tumwater.
