She was born September 3, 1928 to Thomas Oscar Combs, and Lovell Clementine Pless in Benton City, Washington; she had 10 brothers and sisters She married LeRoy D. Laisure (brother to her best friend Dorothy) in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, April 29 1944.
She lived in Olympia since 1947, worked in the state cafeteria for a couple of years before going to work for the Department of Revenue where after 29 years and retired at age 55.
She and her husband were snow birds and went to Quartzite every year for over 15 years. They also loved the ocean and had a site there that they loved to go to. They also traveled around the western states extensive and accompanied by their grandchildren a lot of the time.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1999 along with her brothers John Combs and Leo Combs and 3 of her sisters; Wilda Jensen of Olympia, Thelma of Seattle, and Ella of Benton City. she is survived by 4 brothers: Doyle Combs of Redmond, Oregon; Lavelle Combs of Clarkston, Washington, Jerry Combs of Spokane, Washington and David Combs formerly of Olympia, Washington, She is also survived by her three daughters and their husbands; Leilani D Alvarez, wife of Raul Alvarez of Olympia, Gloria G. Flanagan wife of Benjamin Flanagan of Caldwell Idaho and their son Gary D. Laisure of Olympia who resides with his sister Leilani. They had 5 grandchildren: Manual Ramos companion Sue, Yolanda Haas, Rafino Ramos, and Reynaldo Ramos wife Jill all of Olympia and Emily K Collins and husband Brian of Nampa, Idaho, and 13 great grandchildren’ icole Haas, Alicia Haas, Zachary Haas, Jenna Tabor, Jessika Tabor, Auston Ramos, Ryan Ramos and Brendon Ramos. Elliana Collins, Brian Collins Jr, Benjamin Collins, Julliana Collins and Oliver Collins and 1 great-great grandson Aaron son of Nicole..
Her family was the most important thing in her life. She visited her parents ,brothers and sisters throughout her life when every she could. She was very close to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked hard all her life taking care of her son Gary as well as gardening and canning and even milked a cow each day before going to work. She aways had time for her friends. She was an, active member of the Boston Harbor Garden Club until 2010.
There will be a service at Mills and Mills Chapel on Little Rock Road in Tumwater Saturday, August 24th at 1pm with a view from 11am to 1pm.
There will be a lite meal at the Firehouse on Boston Harbor Road near the Mercantile store following the service for family and close friends.
She will be interned along with her eternal companion in the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington at a later date.
