Dorothy Edna Thurston was born July 18, 1923, to Holger and Matilda Jensen and died on July 1, 2024, in Olympia, Washington. Surviving Dorothy are her daughter Cindy Thurston (Robert) McBride, and her son Donald (Stacy) Thurston; grandson Kyle Thurston; granddaughter Sena (Luke) Hansen, Jessie Bensley, Ryane Myers, as well as several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Preceding Dorothy in death was her husband Paul in 2005, her son Paul Jr. in 1979, her daughter Cheryl Thurston King in 1992, and grandson Curtis Byre in 2023.
Dorothy and her husband Paul had a commercial fishing business with his sons from 1950 until 1980. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing, knitting, feeding her birds, her flower garden, and being a member of the Olympia Garden Club.
At Dorothy's request, there will be no funeral service. A private family burial will be held at Mills and Mills, Tumwater, Washington. A celebration of life gathering will honor Dorothy at Thurston Farm located at 9027 Johnson Point Rd NE; Olympia, Washington on July 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
