Diana R King, 69 years old, of Olympia Washington, died on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 22, 1944 in Madison Wisconsin, and became the loving daughter of her adopted parents, John A. Lorenz and Lucille W. (Auten) Lorenz of Independence Iowa. There she graduated from high school with the class of 1962, and began a career with AT&T as a telephone operator. Diana married her childhood boyfriend, Richard L. King of Hudson Iowa that same year.
Richard had joined the Air Force, and they were sent to McGuire AFB in 1963, where she worked for New Jersey Bell as a operator. After discharge in 1965, Diana and her husband moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she began work for Mountain Bell. In 1966 they moved to Pueblo, Colorado, continuing to work for Mountain Bell until 1978, when she and her husband moved to Olympia, Washington. Here Diana began work for Northwestern Bell, where she continued with the company as it was sold and eventually became a Qwest supervisor. Diana retired in 2000 from the company that's now called Century Link.
Diana is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard, her daughter, Tara (Mike) Piper of Olympia WA, her grandson, Tristen Piper, and her great granddaughter, Cassie Piper. She is also survived by a special aunt , Darlene Lorenz of Independence, Iowa, Her biological mother, Phylis Fasanella of Mission Viejo, CA., Her sisters, Vicky Miner of Wildomar, CA., Sherry (Bob) Drzewicki of Trabuco Canyon, CA., and a sister in law, Kat Arnold of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, her son, Darrin J King , a brother, Charles Arnold, and a special uncle, Glen W Lorenz.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, Feb 21, 2014 at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, Tumwater WA.
