The sudden death of this esteemed young man has thrown a veil of gloom over the circle of his acquaintance. Cut down in the Spring of life with only a brief warning, we are reminded to be always ready to meet the "Angel of Death." It was but yesterday, that we beheld him in the pride and bloom of life--his eye kindled with the fire of animation--his step firm as the tree of the forest--his lips giving utterance to the feelings of a warm and generous heart. Behold him now, deposing calmly in the sleep of Death--the rose of the cheek supplanted by the pale lily of the grave.
Mr. Dillard was a young man beloved by all who knew him, for his gentlemanly deportment and his moral and upright standing in society. Beloved while living, his remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of friends, who paid their final tribute to his memory.
