Carl “Ross” Stover, 85, of Olympia in the summer and Sun City West in the winter, passed away on December 22, 2011 in Sun City West, Arizona. Ross was born on July 16, 1926 to Carl M. Stover and Nora Elizabeth (Ross) Stover in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Olympia High School, Ross served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged at the end of WWII. Ross loved to learn; he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Voice and a Master of Arts degree in Music/Choral Conducting at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ, and pursued doctoral studies at Indiana University and the University of Southern California. Ross married Ingrid Eskman in 1949 and they had four children.
Ross spent the majority of his professional life as a Minister of Music/Choral Director at numerous churches in Washington, Oregon and California, as well as teaching at several colleges in the Pacific Northwest and Southern California. After Ingrid passed away in 1978, Ross married Bette Wyckoff Lewis. When not working, Ross and Bette loved to travel--whether it was the around the world or just around the country to visit family and see barbershop events and concerts.
Ross is survived by his wife, Bette (Lewis) Stover, children, Jerry (Sue), Linda, Janet (Robert), Nancy, Kaylene (Greg), Charles (Marianne), Stan (Joella), Robert (Janet), Leland (Maura), 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
