She was surrounded by love and prayers. Amber grew up in Oregon, Washington, and California and enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17. She ascended the ranks to Chief Petty Officer shortly before being accepted to an Officer program where she subsequently rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After a 24 year US Navy career, she transitioned to the private sector where she found a second career as an engineer and program manager at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
Amber was a staunch patriot, a cherished wife, a lifelong horse-lover, a war hero, a dedicated mother, a sage visionary, a fierce friend, a driven mentor, a beloved sister, a strong role model, a treasured daughter, and embodied the definition of a true leader.
Amber is survived by her husband of 22 years, Adam Schnitzer, children Ayden and Auburn, and her beloved dog, America. Also in mourning are her brothers Jason, Shawn, John, father Michael, Uncles Bob, Bill, Tom, Aunts Jean, Laurie, Margie, Peggy and many cousins.
She was taken far too early from this world and we shall miss her dearly.
A celebration of her life for her shipmates, coworkers, and friends will be held on 30 September 2022 in Annapolis, MD. Please contact Adam Schnitzer at 410-499-4342 for more information. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to K9s For Warriors, https://k9sforwarriors.org/.
