February 26, 1928 ~ July 24, 2020 (age 92)
Obituary Tucson, Arizona - William G. Hansen, 92, of Tucson, peacefully passed away
Friday evening July 24th, 2020.
Bill was a part of the Great Generation and he epitomized all that made it great. Born
in Cleveland, Ohio on February 26, 1928, the only child of Louis and Frances Hansen.
Upon graduating from High School, Bill attended Case Western Reserve where he
received advanced degrees in business and education. Bill also studied romance
languages at the university in Mexico City. This began his love of travel.
When duty called, Bill served his country during the Korean War as a mess sergeant
in the Army.
Once settled in Cleveland, Bill went into banking and eventually became the CFO of
Sanymetal where he worked until retirement in 1984. In 1964 he married the love of
his life, Bertha (Berdie) Sadauskas, and together they traveled extensively all over
the world dragging along their two children, Carrie and Bill.
During his tenure at Sanymetal Bill and his wife decided to open a delicatessen at a
large mall in the Cleveland area. Food was always a passion of his.
In 1984 they packed up the clan and relocated to Tucson, Arizona. It didn’t take
long for Bill to get antsy, so Bill and his wife started the Tucson Seniors Getaway
Club. That travel bug had caught him again and for over a decade they hosted
groups of Seniors for excursions all over the world.
Bill was also a lover of crossword puzzles, so for six years, he constructed
crossword puzzles, posting them on his blog where they were played by people
from over half the nations of the world.
Bill was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle church.
He leaves behind, to hold on to his precious memory, his soulmate Berdie Hansen,
his two adoring children William L. Hansen and Carrie (Patrick) Kinnison, and
grand-kitty Zoey.
Bill’s family wishes to express appreciation to all that are offering condolences at
this time but have elected to have private services due to the outbreak of the
Coronavirus.
There will be a private funeral service at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery, 2151 South Avenida
Los Reyes, Tucson, AZ. 85748.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Eastlawn
Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ. 85712.
