

Vernel Campbell, 89 was called to heaven on May 13, 2012. Vernel was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born in Canoe, Kentucky and moved to Tucson, AZ in 1956. He was a retired SSGT for the USAF and served in World War II. He also worked as a miner, bus driver, and taxi driver. He was a great mechanic, a wonderful cook, an animal lover, and an incredible person. He was preceded in death by his father Elvin Campbell, his mother Eliza Campbell, his sisters Clara Campbell, Julia Kilburn, Addie Meyers, Ethel Akers, and by the love of his life Doris Bond. He leaves behind his sisters Katherine Smith, Gracie Wilson, and Willodean Collins, along with two daughters Linda Curry and Nancy Maloney, two grandson’s Christopher Curry and Kevin Curry, a granddaughter Jennifer Maloney, a granddaughter in law Angela Curry and his pride and joy great-grandson Brent Curry. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. We will miss you dearly poppy, but know that you are in heaven and we will see you again. Services were held at the East lawn Mortuary on Friday May 18th.
