Thomas (Bud) Larry Thompson, 86, graduated to his heavenly home on February 20, 2021, in Tucson, Arizona. Thomas was born on October 21, 1934, to Everett and Mary Thompson, in Denver, Colorado. His family moved to Alamosa, Colorado where he attended school. After graduating from Alamosa High School in 1954, Thomas joined the US Air Force, serving as Airman Second Class for 3 ½ years, including service in communications during the Korean war. In 2002, he decided to retire in Tucson, Arizona. He was a kind and quiet-natured man, who always had a smile for everyone. Model trains were his passion for most of his life, even building tunnels through the walls of the house—more than once! He was always a fan of football, baseball and basketball—and the legendary Johnny Cash.
Thomas is survived by his son, Larry (Jesse), his daughter, Barbara (Robb) and his granddaughter, Jessica. Also, by his brother Norman; his nieces, Stacy, Susan, and Wendy; and by his nephews, Stanley and Willie, along with succeeding generations of family.
Thomas was preceded in death by Mary C Thompson (Mother), Everett Thompson (Father), Sara Ann Thompson (daughter), Etta Belle Townsend (Sister), Stephen Townsend (Nephew). Also, his grandbabies, Austin and Andrea.
A ceremony with military honors is being planned at 10:30 am, August 7, 2021, at the Alamosa Cemetery. There will also be a celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Arizona State Veterans’ Home in Tucson, Arizona.
