Robyn Suzanne Roy Hardy (aka “Minnie”), born December 2, 1964 ended her journey on this earth Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the age of 55. She is survived by her mother Georgette Belanger; her three children Lindsey Burlingame, Brooke Hardy and Marcus Hardy; her brothers Ric Roi and Scott Belanger; her partner Joseph J.R. Johnson (Robyn’s “Tigger”); and many more family and friends.
Robyn was a brilliant mind full of creativity and enthusiasm for new projects and adventures. She was resourceful, accepting, kind and hardworking. She loved to read, write, roller skate and try new things. Robyn expressed her love for others with thoughtful, unique gifts, though her main love language was cooking meals for her friends and family. She was always available for a warm hug and took pride in using her skills and passions to help others.
As a successful local business owner/operator of Prudential Aegis Realty from 1993 to 2005, she and her ex-husband Gary Hardy were very active in the Tucson community. Robyn and Gary leveraged their success and rapport to fuel their engagement in philanthropic causes. Robyn was particularly proud of her involvement with The Sunshine Kids Foundation; a non-profit dedicated to children with cancer.
Robyn’s entrepreneurial mind was always working. She constantly had ideas for an invention or new ways to repurpose old things. Though Robyn found joy in expressing her creativity in many ways, cooking was her absolute favorite. From delicious home-cooked meals to winning local salsa contests, Robyn made her work in the kitchen look effortless. Passion and hobby turned profession when she graduated from Caridad Culinary Training Program in 2012. Robyn went on to do amazing work in kitchens throughout the Tucson community, and recently shared her skills with other parts of the country and world.
During her time as Executive Chef at Gospel Rescue Mission, Robyn cooked daily meals for the women and children’s center. Her work with the Mission allowed her to share her passion for cooking as well as become an advocate for mental health and rehabilitation for the homeless and vulnerable. All the while, Robyn courageously battled through her own mental illness and alcohol addiction.
For those who wish to join Robyn’s family in an expression of love and remembrance, we ask only the following:
In honor of Robyn’s giving nature, practice kindness - to yourself and one another. In memory of her creative and adventurous spirit, try something new or revisit an activity or place that lights up your heart. In acknowledgment of Robyn’s strength and struggles, share your experiences, dreams, fears, pain, and joy and create a safe and loving space for others to do the same.
Through the loss of our beloved Robyn, we are reminded to be present in life - to listen more, talk more, learn more, love more, and live more.
Due to current travel and gathering limitations for family and friends, a celebration of life for Robyn will be planned in the coming months.
