He passed away on February 11, 2022, at St Joseph Hospital, after a short but intense illness.
Robert grew up in Chicago but left there to attend Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana where he majored in Pre-Med and made many friends. He graduated from National Louis University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavior Science and Education.
Robert and Brenda met at Goshen College and married September 25th, 1981. They moved to Tucson Arizona in 1996, and Robert worked at the Tucson Unified School District for many years and retired in 2012.
Robert loved music, played guitar and a little piano. He had a great voice, and his friends and family members would often be heard having fun singing R& B songs. On the weekends he and a few friends played for fun at social events the city of Tucson.
He was an avid reader and kept up with all current events. One of his biggest hobbies was shooting pool and he was a great trash talker during a game. He carried his own stick, in its special carrying case, and won many pool tournaments, at his apartment complex.
Robert told Brenda that he knew the Lord because his grandmother had taken him to church, when he was a boy.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bowman of Tucson, Arizona, daughter Dioanna Bell of Chicago, Illinois and sons Robert and Marcus Massingale and their mother Deborah, sisters Rose Harris, Rita Stallings, Nona Arnold, brothers Maurice (Pamela) Bowman and Howard (Patricia)Bowman, all of Chicago, Illinois and suburbs of Chicago and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Robert Lee Bowman Sr., Mother, Mae Frances Mitchell Bowman and his first wife, Yvonne Carey Bowman.
A memorial service will be held soon in Chicago, Illinois to celebrate his life.
