Richard Seth Meyer was born in the Bronx, New York City on November 11, 1946. He died July 6, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital of complications following a stroke. He is survived by his caring and loving family to include his wife Susan (Suzi), his sister Sybil Ann Sherman and her husband Harry (Bud), nephews Scott Sherman, Glenn Sherman and Marc Sherman. He is also survived by his stepchildren Jo Street, Kim Shaffer and Leah Bundy, all of which called him Papa Rick and enjoyed his really bad Dad jokes (he was the only one laughing while all of them are rolling their eyes.)
Rick was a life-long musician and songwriter and enjoyed playing all kinds of music, at any venue, with anybody, for hours and hours and hours…. He was quite adventurous, attended the original Woodstock and hitchhiked from New York to Arizona. He had great stories of that trip, some hysterical, some terrifying. Actually he had many great stories of all kinds.
Rick had many friends such as “The Boys” he had dinner with every Monday night, exchanging events of the previous week. (He always made a list so he wouldn’t forget anything). Thank you fellas, you were always there for him, clear up to the end.
Rick was a member of Universalist Unitarian Church on 22nd Street in Tucson and was on the UUCT Finance Committee. He was the organizer of the Men’s Group at the Church. The UUCT is made up of amazing, wonderful people who have expressed their kindness during his sudden illness and their sadness of his passing. Reverend Bethany provided Suzi an ear during his declining health, especially when he was sent to ICU with a grim prognosis. Many thanks to all of you for your unending support.
Rick will be in our hearts and our memories of him will forever live on and make us smile. He requested no funeral but wanted his friends and family to gather at a party with music, food, drinks, and share stories and memories. This will be arranged at a date in the future.
