On November 15, 2022, Raymond Terrence O’Donnell, Jr. loving brother, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away suddenly at his home. Raymond was born November 6, 1944, to Raymond & Mildred O’Donnell in Bozeman Montana. He lived in Montana until he was 6 years old. He shared memories of playing in his grandfather’s grain elevator, eating the fresh peas from their garden, watching the trains pass through the town, and taking trips to Yellowstone National Park. In 1951 his family moved to West Seattle, Washington, and added his brother, Gregory to their family. Ray and Greg grew up spending time on Alki Beach, working on cars, and skiing on Snoqualmie Pass.
Raymond graduated with a BSME from the University of Washington and worked as an Engineer Manager for IBM General Products Division for 21 years. IBM moved him to Colorado, then Arizona. Raymond received his MBA from the University of Phoenix and was a faculty member at the University of Phoenix. He was also an instructor at Prescott College and an adjunct faculty at Pima Community College. He had his private pilot license, extra class amateur radio license was a travel agent, and did extensive travel for business and pleasure.
Raymond had two daughters, Sherrie and Shannon. He devoted his life to the girls and their families. He lived in Tucson for 43 years and traveled to Washington at least twice a year. Ray would spend time with his 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren making wonderful memories by attending their sports events, putting together train sets, spoiling them with McDonald’s, fishing, and sailing in the San Juan Islands. He was a handyman always willing to help with any project and he could fix or open anything with his pocketknife.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Terrence O’Donnell, Sr., his mother, Mildred Robertson O’Donnell. He is survived by his brother, Gregory R. O’Donnell, daughter’s Sherrie R. Croshaw (Alan) and Shannon L. Affholter (Shannon R). His grandchildren, Jessica Sanchez (Philip), Josh Croshaw, Jake Croshaw, Abigail Affholter, and Abraham Affholter. His great-grandchildren Adalynn Sanchez, Avery Sanchez, and Brayden Croshaw, as well as lots of extended family.
