Ray was born in Danbury, CT, on February 13th, 1935. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force, eventually becoming an officer. He served around the world, and came to Tucson in 1974 as a missile Combat Crew Commander. He retired as a Major from the Titan missile wing here at Davis Monthan.
In his retirement, Ray was very active in the Air Force Association, serving in several positions including state President. He married Marlene Christy in 1995, and together they toured the western world until Ray’s stroke in 2007.
Ray was a proud patriot, and an avid Wildcats fan - he never failed to wear his red shirts on game days. He is survived by his wife Marlene, stepson Ken, brother Richard, and sisters Ysabel and Lynne.
Viewing will be held at Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E Pima Street, on July 26, 2014 at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00.
