A couple of days late but today, Flag Day, what a better day to share the memory of a true & proud American. How fortunate it was for myself and my Vietnam/Thailand SP’s to share Mom at our reunions. RIP our Gold Star Mom but with that wink and smile as your VSPA  last man standing joins our reunion in heaven.

Our condolences to the extended family and friends. It was with great sadness that I learned of Rachel “Mom” Lehman’s passing. Mom, as we knew her over the 17 years of our VSPA reunions, was our one Gold Star Mother. She not only represented her son Millard, but all of the sons KIA in Vietnam and the ones she adopted in VSPA. She loved, as she would say “my boys” and we loved her in return. For me, Erlyce Pekas and Mom, it is has been a very personal and predestined blessing. But, we have all been made whole with the love & spirit she has left with us. May she Rest In Peace.

Rachel was my Great Aunt and was the last immediate descendant of Henry Taylor family here in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting her several times throughout my life through visits and many phone calls throughout the years. I was able to speak with her back in February and she encouraged me to keep taking care of my diabetes, as she had with every phone call we made. She would always speak fondly of her Sonny which whom I am confident she is now reunited with along with my Uncle Millard. My condolences to my cousin Shayne Lehman and his family and a host of other family members and friends. She is an angel now. Rest in Peace Aunt Rachel.
