Pauletta B. Lucas was born on February 3, 1954, in Pineville, LA to Earl Hatten and Annie Bell Washington Durr. In 1959 the family moved to Safford, AZ and from there to Tucson, AZ where she attended Roskruge Elementary School/Jr High School and graduated from Tucson High school in 1973. She attended Pima Community College.
In 1974 she met and married Micheal Lewis Sr., to this union two children were born DeVonne and Micheal Jr. After the death of her husband Micheal, she met and married Anthony Wayne Lucas Sr. and his three year old son Anthony Jr (TJ) in 1984. Anthony and Pauletta were married for 38 years. Fifteen of those years were spent moving around in the military. After Military retirement, they decided to settle down in Tucson. Pauletta worked as a Secretary for several Law Firms, Department of Corrections and as a Legal Secretary in the State Attorney General’s Office. She worshipped at First Church of God for several years and later at Son Life Chapel with Pastor Gilbert Garcia until her death. She was highly active in church and community activities. The Woman’s group did outreach activities with Cholla High School (Christmas Teen Group). She also volunteered in Jeannie’s Café before and after Church service. Pauletta did volunteer work with her sister Rose for the Boys and Girls club – The Event, Steak and Burger dinner, Southern AZ Diaper Bank, and the Hope Festival.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Anthony Wayne Lucas Sr., her Mother Annie Bell (Washington) Durr, both of Tucson, Daughter DeVonne Lewis of South Bend IN, Sons Micheal Lewis Jr. and Anthony Wayne Lucas Jr. both of Tucson, AZ, two brothers: Larry Washington, and Adiyia Sundiata AKA Bobby Taulton both of Arizona, three sisters: Millie Fay Taulton Tolliver of Louisiana, Rose Taulton of Tucson, AZ and Rhonda Faye Davis of Springfield, IL. Eight Grandchildren: Ty-Shawna Lucas, Timothy Lucas both of Tucson, AZ, Daveiyon Lewis of Florida, JoAnn Lucas of South Bend, IN, Unique Maya Server of Phoenix, AZ, De-Vyne Lewis of South Bend, IN, Maleiya Lewis; Anthony W. Lucas III, Carla Rodriguez of Tucson, AZ, Great Grandchildren: Chayden Lucas, Tucson, AZ Teresa Lucas of Phoenix, Edward Martinez Jr. and Diayah Fraijo of Tucson. Adopted Grandchildren Zhoee, Zander, Zarek, Zarayeh, Stephen Jr, Tommie, and Donivan of Arizona. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
