Patricia Ferris Vickery, born May 23, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed peacefully on February 23, 2022, at 88 years of age in Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucile Miller Ferris, and her father, Carl R. Ferris, MD, both from Kansas City, Missouri.
She graduated from Southwest High School and received her bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado - Boulder, where she also met her husband, John Vickery of Boulder, Colorado. They were married for 66 years. In addition to her husband John (Retired USAF Colonel), Pat is survived by three children, Kent Vickery (wife Katherine) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Diane Squires (recently passed husband Paul) of Tucson, Arizona; Ron Vickery (wife Tracey) of Boston, Massachusetts, 12 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Patricia was active in many Air Force volunteer organizations; she and John lived on 26 bases across the US and Europe. During the Vietnam War, she twice held down the fort while John was serving. She was active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma Association, various Bridge clubs, and helped her fellow members in Alcoholics Anonymous where she celebrated over 40 years of sobriety. Patricia had many civilian jobs through the years while she lived on bases, performing various duties for the Colorado Springs Employment Agency, the Texas Unemployment Office, served as president of the Berlin Officers Club, and owned a ValPak Direct Mail Marketing franchise. While raising their children and working, she was an avid Bridge player, great cook, and loved to travel. She and John took many cruises and tours, but especially enjoyed their time driving throughout North America in both trailers and motor homes.
