Mike King, 57, of Tucson, AZ passed away on August 13, 2020 after a long battle with cancer with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife Becky, daughter Shelby, mother Gail, and sister Deborah (Scott Dawkins).
Mike started working at New Way Auto Parts, an auto recycling yard purchased in 1962 by his father and grandfather, when he was 7, and he continued working there throughout his life. Mike became an expert in cars and auto recycling, managing the business with ease.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hiking, cycling, fly fishing, camping, canoeing, and windsurfing. He especially loved visiting National Parks, with his favorite being Yellowstone National Park, and he would ride bike through Saguaro National Park East on the weekends. Mike also loved jazz and blues music. He could be found eating ice cream and listening to blues music on NPR every Sunday evening.
He will be terribly missed by his family who felt his love and companionship every day. Services will be delayed until it is safe to gather. In the meantime, please think of Mike if you take a hike, ride a bike, or eat a sandwich at his favorite lunch spot, Baggin’s. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the National Park Foundation, El Grupo, or a charity of your choice in Mike’s name.
