

Mercedes was born to the late Juan and Paula Ybarra on Jan. 20, 1934.
She is predeceased by her husband Ramon B. Arvizu, her daughter Norma Arvizu and her grandson Joel Espinosa. She is survived by her children John Arvizu (Carrie) and Monica Arvizu.
Mercedes adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all took turns accompanying Nana in her daily endeavors. Her grandchildren are Ron Reyna, Johnny Ray Arvizu, Nathan Arvizu, Denise Mesa, Abram Espinosa (Kim), Ernie Espinosa (Mary), Joel Espinosa (predeceased). Her great-grandchildren are Rachel Reyna, Jacob Reyna, Gabriel Martin-Reyna, Bodhi Martin-Reyna, Alyssa Arvizu, Izabelle Arvizu, Isaac Macias, Larissa Macias, Levi Lopez, Madeline Lopez, Miranda Espinosa, Andrew Espinosa, Ethan Espinosa, Sienna Espinosa, Isaiah Espinosa.
Mercedes loved her late brothers Juan Ybarra (Margarita), Hector Ybarra (Ramona), Sam Ybarra (Francisca), and her surviving sister Minerva Alvarez (Jesse). They would all gather periodically for morning breakfast to share their love and spend time together. She also loved her nieces and nephews very much. She enjoyed cooking and baking and would like to share her dishes with the family.
Mercedes was mostly a stay at home mom. She was a good mother and wife and always tended to her family's well being. Because of her caring sentiment she was lead to become a certified nurse assistant in her younger years.
Mom, Nana, Tia, Sister...We Love You and we are all going to miss you dearly. We know that you are in God's Glory and resting in peace.
A funeral service for Mercedes will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
