Mary Dolores Soliz

She was born to Eugenio and Dolores Carbajal on April 02, 1941. After living and Attending school in Bisbee, Mary enjoyed a quiet life with her family till she met her husband, Esequiel Soliz. When she met the love of her life they settled in Tucson where together, they had enjoyed more than 65 years of marriage and 7 children: Esequiel Jr, David, Gloria, Elizabeth, Stephan, Jacob, and Alfredo. Then in later years with loving hearts added 2 more children as they adopted Gabriel and Mark.

Mary loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends. Her children and grandchildren would gather around the kitchen table for her famous homemade cooking and loved listening to Mary’s stories about her younger years, while enjoying her wonderful sense of humor. Most weekends were spent with her children and grandchildren enjoying a nice family dinner or big family celebration.

Mary worked hard in her younger years supporting a small business she owned with her husband. Later Mary became a dedicated stay at home mother who helped raise not only her own children but multiple nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mary Soliz. She loved spending evenings with her family and friends. She had many skills in crafting and filled her home with her sewing, knitting, quilting and her DIY projects. She also loved gardening and had many plants and flowers that she enjoyed tending every morning. In the evenings she was dedicated to her bible studies and loved teaching her family about the Lord’s prayers. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was endearing to everyone she met and welcomed into her home.

Mary touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life, she was a strong supporter in her community. She was apart of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, Patriarch Fellowship, Navigators Ministries, Jewish Voice Ministries, Jerusalem Prayer Team, Chosen People Ministries, American Bible Society, wholeness Ministries, Christian Appalachian Project and given food to the poor.

Even though a failing heart took her away from this world, her loving part of her heart has left a beacon of light for all those who were around her and who loved her. Her cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed. When you think of Mary, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember Mary did believe life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

Mary Soliz is survived by her children: Esequiel Soliz, David Soliz, Gloria Soliz-Bustamante, Elizabeth C. Soliz-Lopez, Stephan C. Soliz, Jacob Soliz, Alfredo Soliz, Gabriel Soliz, and Mark Soliz.

Her Siblings: Nellie Alcantar, Liz Carbajal, Jean Carbajal, Eva Chavez, Esperanza Carbajal, and Edward Carbajal

Her Grandchildren: Katherine M. Olivas, Yvette B. Olivas, Rosemarie Soliz, Stephan Soliz, Xavier Soliz, Bobby Lopez, Lisa Marie Lopez, Joe Lopez, Annalisa Olivas, Pricilla Soliz, Larry Gonzalez, Bianca Soliz, Angela Soliz, Troy Slover, Richard Bustamante, Isabel Olivas, Esequiela Soliz, Tony Bustamante, David Soliz, Angel Olivas, Meagan Soliz, Thomas Slover, and Diane Bustamante.

She will also be missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many great grandchildren.
