Mary Carmen Rittmann

Mary Carmen was born on July 16th 1962, in Tucson, to Salvador and Beatriz Lievanos, she was the third eldest of 5 children. Mary Carmen resided in the Mission Manor area of southern Tucson and attended schools in the Sunnyside School District. Mary Carmen graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1979 and continued her education at Pima Community College where she enrolled with the Ballet Folklorico de Pima College under the instructor Angel Hernandez.

Mary Carmen then proceeded to work in the retail industry starting with Eva’s Bridals, alongside her mother Beatriz Lievanos who was a seamstress. Mary Carmen would finish her retail career with JC Penny’s. During this time, she met and married Jonathan Rittman and were married for 10 years.

Mary Carmen became an advocate and donated many years to the Donor Network of AZ after receiving a Kidney and Pancreas in 2000 from the affects of Juvenile Diabetes. Mary Carmen dedicated her time by educating and encouraging our communities on becoming organ donors. She helped encourage many individuals to sign up and become organ donors and gave comfort to those that were waiting to receive an organ. Her dedication to this cause will continue through family.

Mary Carmen is predeceased by her parents Salvador and Beatriz Lievanos, her sister Monica Lievanos, plus grandparents and other relatives. She is survived by her partner of many years, Maurice Daniel (Arizona), siblings, Jorge (California), Salvador/Charlene (Texas) and Ana (Arizona). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and other family members in Arizona, Texas, California, Oregon, and Washington.

Mary Carmen’s spirit for living, her compassion, and promoting organ donation will always be with us.

A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. A rosary and funeral mass will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. A graveside service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. A reception will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
