Mary Gonzales Clark, a first generation Tucsonan, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of August 22, 2019. She was 96 years old. Mary proudly served our country as a WWll Woman's Airforce Army (WAC) branch of the military, along with her older sister, Reynalda G. (Naya) Ortiz. They were among the first Hispanic women to be enlisted in Tucson.
Mary was blessed with a long, beautiful life surrounded by a large family and friends that loved and respected her very much.
She was preceded in death by her father, Juan M. Gonzales ( Maria B. Gonzales) loving husband, John F. Clark, Son, Abel F. Clark, Daughter, Catherine W. C. Matthews, Brothers: Charlie, Richard, Henry, Juan, Benjie and Sisters: Clarita, Naya, Molly, Joyce and Son- in- Law Tom Feurstock.
She leaves behind her Sisters: Carmen Chambers, Genevieve Rodgers, Loyce McCormick, Dr. Fern Espino (Thomas Short) Daughters: Elma Clark Feurstock and Lisa Clark Barrows (Alvino)
Sons-In-Law: Lanny Mathews, Ernie Villa.
She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Ernie C. Villa (Danielle Tafoya, Jonah Tafoya), Erik M. Villa (Noemi, Hannah), Elaine Collins (Aiden, Emma, Canaan), Jacob Matthews(Jacob, Elijah, Aaron, Josiah) Taryn Gibson (Jon, Navaeh, Kai) Destiny Bracamonte (Daniel), Alyssa Bracamonte (Jay Taj). She loved her 54 nieces and nephews with all her heart.
