Martin Allen Dillon – was born to his parents Donald L. Dillon and Vivian M. McGraw here in Tucson, Arizona on February 13, 1944. He attend school on the south side at Sunny Side Elementary, and continued on to Sunny Side High School.
Marty went on to join the military in 1968 where he was stationed in Germany before getting sent into Vietnam, and serving with the 101st Air Born as a helicopter gunner A/377th ART group. During this time Marty survived a helicopter crash, was a personal chef to his platoon leader (who didn’t like the military cooking), and even went on to earn the Bronze Star for heroism during a hazardous conflict. Marty was also highly recognized for his great Marksmanship abilities.
After leaving the military he returned to the states and started working with Anamax Mining Company (which he loved to tell the grandkids about how he drove the REALLY BIG trucks). That’s when Marty met, fell in love with, and married Deborah A Leeman on June 25th 1973 – his loving wife of 42 years. In the early 80’s Marty and Debbie opened their roofing company, and operated it for over 20 years. This allowed them to be active in their community that Marty grew up in and loved so much. This also allowed ample time for Marty to spend time with his children that he loved unconditionally.
Marty’s sense of humor and love of joking and teasing kept him feeling young at heart, and always made a lasting impression. He especially enjoyed being around the ones he cared deeply for, and sharing his stories. During times of trouble, Marty was always a pillar of strength for his family, always there to comfort anyone who needed it – he could handle any situation with a quiet resolve, and drew on his strength from his trust in the Lord and his deep love for his family.
Marty’s memories will live on through his loving and devoted wife – Debbie, his sister Roberta Guy and husband Sonny Guy, his siter Phyliss Gann and husband Cliff Gann, his four children Martin Dillon, Denise Downard – husband Phillip Downard, Michael Dillon – wife Janett Dillon, and Jullie Peth. Marty also has 14 grandchildren who will always remember his stories and great sense of humor!
We will always love you Marty and are glad you are preparing the way for the rest of us to follow and rejoin you in happiness.
