Maria I Rios

Maria Isabel Rios, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Maria passed on September 8, 2022 at Santa Rosa Nursing Facility in Tucson, Arizona. Maria is survived by her spouse Francisco Rios, her children Macario Lespron, Guadalupe Hernandez, and Abigail Sobampo.

Maria was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico on October 18, 1953 to Edelmira and Juan Manuel Rios. Since birth, Maria was a fighter and always persevered through all challenges, including immigrating to the United States in 1982. Maria immigrated with her three young children and continued to persevere in the United States, alongside her husband Francisco Rios. Together, they formed a beautiful, blended family inclusive of Maria’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maria was a marked warrior and is remembered as having a strong and protective character, an example to be set for her family.

Maria accomplished many things in her life, including owning and operating an ice cream truck, making mouth-watering tamales and tortillas, and is remembered for her amazing cooking and warm demeanor with all those around her. Maria enjoyed visiting and socializing with friends, nurturing and taking care of her family. Maria was a vital part of her nearby church and its members. Maria routinely attended church and enjoyed singing the choir songs and reciting bible verses.

Maria will always be remembered as the beautiful, goofy, charismatic, and nurturing mother she always was. God bless Maria and may she rest in peace always.

A visitation for Maria will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
