Marcia Carrasco Faccio

Marcia Carrasco Faccio, age 78, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017. She was born, Marcia Leonor Carrasco, on June 9, 1939 in Nogales, Arizona. Marcia was the 10th of 13 children born to Lino and Esperanza Carrasco. Residing close to the border with Mexico, with a multitude of siblings and extended family, Marcia was raised in a wonderfully colorful, vibrant, and loving environment. It is notable that the rich history of the area, of Marcia’s childhood, included influences from Spanish Missionaries and Conquistadors, Native American tribes, European settlers, pioneering merchants, and an easy, relaxed border which allowed for a unique flow of people, cultures, heritages, and traditions – all of which have created, until this day, an environment unlike anything else in the United States. This historical beauty greatly enriched Marcia’s childhood, adolescence, character, and identity. Following high school, Marcia married George Richard Faccio, and they began their family in Tucson, raising four children: George Richard Jr., Rodrick Alexander, David Anthony, and Yvette Marie.

Marcia’s decades of professional employment involved administrative assistant positions, mostly in the public education sector. In the mid 1970’s, Marcia served as an administrative assistant to Fremont County Sheriff, John William Vernetti in Cañon City, Colorado. During the 1980’s, at Canyon Del Oro High School, she was the administrative assistant to Athletic Director Art Mangels, and during the 1990’s, she held an administrative assistant position in the Registrar’s Office at the University of Arizona.

Of her many interests, Marcia was most passionate about the multitude of activities that involved her children and grandchildren. And, her devotion to her faith in God and the Roman Catholic Church kept her engaged and involved with the Saint Odilia Catholic Church community for five decades, well before Saint Odilia’s Church was constructed.

Ever present was her love for her family, friends, and overwhelmingly, for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of those rare individuals who could effortlessly keep track of every talent, interest, activity, bump and bruise, and anniversary related to her grand and great grandchildren. She will be missed, but she will never be far from the thoughts of family and friends.

She is survived by her four children, George Richard Jr. (Rachel) of Tucson, Rodrick Alexander (Mishelle) of Los Angeles, David Anthony (Lisa) of Tempe, and Yvette Marie of Kearney, Nebraska; grandchildren, Daniel Michael, Clairesse Ciera, Anjolie Monique, Christopher Robert, Santino Cristiani Alexander, Isabella Ai-Ni, Mikel Anthony, Alexia Grace, Alisia Annette, Zachary Aaron, and Jenna Marie; great grandchildren, Lua Belle, Parker Maxwell, Miley Marie, and Mia Rose; sister, Sophia Puente, brothers Vicente and Gaston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In celebration of the inspiring life of Marcia Faccio, the Rosary will be prayed at 10:30a.m., and a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 at Saint Odilia Catholic Church, 7570 North Paseo Del Norte, Tucson, Arizona, 85704; phone: (520) 297-7271.

Immediately following the funeral service, burial will occur at Holy Hope Cemetery (3555 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705).
