Lucy Figueroa Gonzalez
Lucy Figueroa Gonzalez was born on May 29, 1939 in Patagonia, Az. She passed away on November 30, 2010 at the age of 71 from heart and kidney failure. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramona and Jose Figueroa; her two sisters, Tomasa Martinez and Maria Martinez; and her infant son Marcos.
Lucy was beautiful inside and out, with a strong and lasting faith in Jesus Christ. She suffered from numerous health problems in the past several years, but never lost her joy in her faith and family. She was a wife and homemaker for 51 years, and one of her greatest joys was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loyal friend who never lost touch with the friends, siblings, and cousins she grew up with in Patagonia. Lucy also had a heart to help others, working as a nurse’s aide and volunteering for the Casa De Los Niños Crisis Nursery for several years.
She is survived by her devoted husband and partner in life of 51 years, Philip; daughters Ruby (Terry) Gonzalez of Tucson and Ramona (Chris) Kleit of San Diego; son Philip Jr. of Tucson; her grandchildren: C.J., James, John Philip, Marina, and Hannah; her sister Antonia (Albert) Montaño; her brother Abram (Delia) Figueroa; her closest cousin Mary (Rudy) Rodriguez; and many nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom she prayed for daily and loved dearly.
One of Lucy’s favorite scriptures was 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Lucy imparted her faith, hope, and love to her family and friends throughout her lifetime. Her faith, hope, and love will remain with us even though she has left us to enter into her rest with the Lord.
