Louise S. Haugh passed away on April 13, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothy; her sister, Virginia; and her brother, Henry. Louise is survived by her brother, George (Aledia), by her best friend and heart sister, Carol (Gary), by her nephew, David (Megan), her great-nephews, Gabriel and Spencer, by her niece, Lark (Kevin), her great-nephew, Sean, her great-niece, Meredith, and by her brother-in-law, Gail. Louise loved her Kentucky mountain birth home and adored her chosen state of Arizona. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree, the University of Arizona with a master's degree and Brigham Young University with a doctoral degree. She began her high school teaching career in Ohio at Oak Hill High School, followed by a year at Charleston High School in West Virginia, and then for another year in Ohio at William Henry Harrison High School.. Dr. Haugh started her community college teaching career at Imperial Valley College in El Centro, CA, but came home to Tucson to be one of the first faculty members to teach at Pima Community College in 1970. Louise's first classes were held at the hanger, the temporary one-semester home of the college before moving to the west campus location. While at the College, she was an active participant as a faculty representative to the governing board, president of the academic senate, and the chief spokesperson for the faculty employee organization as well as a member of numerous committees and task forces. Dr. Haugh was proud to be a recipient of PCC's Outstanding Faculty Award and for being selected for national recognition in Who's Who Among American Teachers. During her thirty years of service on three campuses at PCC, Louise was a faculty member, a department chair, a district director of honors and developmental education, and an administrator. She retired as a Division Dean for Instructional Support Services at the west campus. Following her retirement, Louise service as the Associate Dean of the Arts, Humanities and Human Services School at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona for a year. She also treasured her commission in the Order of Kentucky Colonels, a philanthropic organization. In lieu of a Memorial Service, a Friendship Celebration was held on May 1, 2016.
