Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.eastlawnpalmsmortuary.com for the Morales Lorraine Morales was affectionately known to many as Cusi, Grandma Cusi and Mamaye.
After living out her last days in hospice, Lorraine passed on April 22, 2023. While she was in hospice she experienced much peace and enjoyed laughter surrounded by her family and friends. When asked if she wanted to go back to her house, she said, “No, I’m very comfy here, and I am very much at peace”. Lorraine had a great sense of humor, always making others laugh (even while in hospice) and making people feel at ease.
Lorraine was born in Douglas, AZ on May 31, 1941. Her parents were Rene and Helen Morales and her younger brother Rooney. She attended Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, CA and graduated with a degree in Economics. That was a joke in our family, since spending money on others was one of her favorite things to do.
She met Larry Hoffmeister in Douglas when she was 22 and (as my mom would put it, she fell head over heels in love with him), and married him 3 months later. They started their family with Stephanie, their daughter and Larry, their son. With great sadness and strength Lorraine was widowed after 5 years when her husband Larry lost his battle with cancer.
Lorraine later married Carlos Urbalejo. They were together for 26 years. They enjoyed going out to the ranch for picnics with Stephanie and Larry and their friends. Lorraine also survived Carlos.
She was very active in her community, in her church in Douglas and volunteered here in Tucson in various ministries. Always being generous with her time and talents. Lorraine was a real estate agent here in Tucson, AZ, for many years. Lorraine enjoyed hiking, skiing, playing bridge, and going to the beach.
Our entire family is very thankful to Ken Mutz for his friendship with Lorraine over the past 25 years. He was always a great support to her. They had a lot of fun together hiking, watching sunsets and spending time with family.
Lorraine is survived by her 2 children, Stephanie and her son in law Mario Teran, Larry and her daughter in law Christine, her grandchildren; Taylor and Kelsey his wife, Alejandro, Tristan, Anissa, and Cristian, her great grandkids; Bella and Dallas, and her only sibling Rooney Morales.
Lorraine is remembered for her love of life, adventuresome spirit, mischievousness, and her deep faith for God. She had such a big heart for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and for those less fortunate than her. She was loved by many and was known for her generosity and unconditional love for her family. Lorraine was the life of the party and she will be greatly missed…
