Leland “Lee” Paul Hofeling died of natural causes on July 30, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. Lee was born in 1942 in Lovell, WY to William and Dola Hofeling. He graduated in 1960 from Brighton High School, earned his bachelor degree from Southern Utah University and obtained his master degree from International University. In 1965 he married Linda Nelson. They had 2 children and were together for almost 20 years.
Lee lived in Price, UT during the 1970‘s and 80‘s. He taught social sciences and was an administrator in the Mining Department at the College of Eastern Utah. Then he was an industrial insurance investigator and moved to the Salt Lake City area. He lived and worked there until about 10 years ago when he retired and moved to Green Valley, AZ.
Lee enjoyed his dogs, the great outdoors, riding his motorcycle, target shooting and visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed reading, following current events and discussing politics.
Lee is survived by his children; Alyson Merrow and William David Hofeling; grandson Curtis Hofeling; siblings Carroll Morris, David Hofeling and Nancy Anderson; and many other family members.
As our Dad requested, there will be no formal memorial service. He specifically directed David and me to scatter his ashes at the San Rafael Wedge in Utah. We will do this in the Fall. Details of the informal ceremony in "the church of the open air" will be posted here soon. All are welcome to attend.
