He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Hillegonds. He is survived by his 3 children: Shannon Lopez (Daryl), Michael Lopez (Sherry), and Jackie Lopez. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was employed by Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson, AZ until retirement.
