Joseph “Alfie” Alfieri of Tucson, Arizona passed away on 24 July 2015 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Amherst, MA in 1921 to Giuseppe Alfieri of Minoprio, Italy and the former Julia Equi of Fornaci di Barga, Italy. He is preceded in death by his siblings Angie, Libero, Eva, Vera and Mario. Alfie graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a degree in Economics and is survived by his lovely wife of 54 years, the former Lydia Garcia. He was a career civil servant for the federal government and enjoyed gardening, photography, camping, going to the bookstore on Sunday’s and visiting with family. Alfie was a generous and loving human being who had a green thumb and could make just about anything grow in the Tucson desert. He was a real family man. He is survived by his wife Lydia, children Joe, Julia (Mike), and Jerry (Olga), his three grandchildren and great-grandnephew, Fred. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral arrangements will be held at 11a.m., August 8th, at Our Lady of Fatima, 1950 W. Irvington PL, Tucson, AZ.
