Our beloved father passed away peacefully on September 1, 2020. Joe was born in Tucson, Arizona to Guadalupe and Maria Rodriguez Garcia on May 5, 1935. A Cinco De Mayo baby made him destined to love music, become a Mariachi and play throughout his adult life. He faithfully sang every Sunday at church with his Mariachi. Joe married his wife Annie and together they raised 4 children. Family values, work ethics, self-discipline and high morals were a way of life for Joe. He lived his life with passion and love and strived to provide the best example he could. Other than his family, Joe’s proudest accomplishments were that he served his country in the US Army, achieved his High School Diploma as an adult, and then his BA degree. Service to Country, his faith and education where paramount to him. Joe served on the World Boxing Association and the International Boxing Foundation as a judge. He traveled the world and judged some of the biggest title fights. When Joe retired from Pima County, he realized his longtime dream of becoming a licensed contractor and opening his own construction company. Joe will be most remembered for his dedication to his immediate and extended family which knew no boundaries. He was at every and any family milestone that he could make. He and his Mariachi’s never missed serenading all the mothers on Mother’s Day at their windows. You will be missed! See you in the FUNNY PAPERS Dad.
