He was a veteran of the 106th Infantry Division in WW ll. He was a POW, captured at the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge.
He received his BS from Northwestern University in 1949. He also received an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the Midwest College of Engineering.
He was a manufacturer's representative in production and sales at the Fromm Company. He also served as a Trustee on the Lombard Village Board, President of the Glenbard School Board, and President of Midwest College of Engineering. He was also a founder of the Bank of Yorktown.
His passions, other than his family, were antique cars and piloting single engine planes. He also had a life-long love of classical music and played the piano, French horn, and trumpet.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Baker Swett, his children Margaret Swett Johnston (George), Charles Edward Swett, Carolyn Mamach, and Andrea Joscelyn. He also is survived by five grandchildren and five great- grand children.
