John A. Patronski Jr, lovingly called “Johnny” by his family, was born in Tucson, Arizona, to John A. Patronski Sr., and Delia Altamirano Patronski, on May 15th 1967.
He is survived by his parents; John Patronski Sr., and Delia Patronski, spouse; Catalina Paredes-Patronski, his children; John Patronski III (Jess), Adrian Patronski (Chianne), Aaron Patronski (Julia), and Sydney Patronski; Stepchildren David, and Victoria, siblings; sister Carrie Patronski Barton (Michael), and brother Chris Patronski (Jennifer), his grandchildren; Vicente, Isabel, Lumi, Jayce, Mathis, Paige, Olivia, Jackson, and Nora. He also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren who all adored and loved him dearly.
John is preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents; Jose M. Altamirano, and Maria del Carmen Altamirano, and Stephen Patronski, and Laura D. Patronski, Aunts; Santos A. Mendoza, Patricia P. Greene, and Maria Elena Calderon, Uncle; Jose A. Altamirano, cousins; Brian Calderon, Miguel A. Altamirano III, Jonathon Altamirano, and Thomas Grimes.
John was proud to serve in the military for over 20 plus years as a firefighter at Morris Air National Guard base 162nd Wing (Retired).
He also served in the Army National Guard, as well as a Air Force National Guard Veteran.
He loved his country and served proudly in Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, and also volunteered to assist with the Hurricane Katrina Relief.
He loved being able to travel the world while in the military and often spoke fondly of the many places he saw, the different cultures, and the great friendships he made during his time of travel.
Even as a young boy, Johnny always loved working, and after he retired, he got restless and wanted to go back into the work force where he thrived being around people and making them laugh. Since January 2023, he held the position as a Corrections Officer at Core Civic until his passing on November 2nd.
John's special interest and hobbies included Football (GO COMMANDERS!), attending concerts, hanging out with family and friends, which he had many of, exploring the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout (video game), and (our favorite) … John telling his stories of his hilarious mishaps.
Johnny was also known as a “gentle giant”, “lovable teddy bear”, and was taken much too soon, leaving a huge void in all our hearts, and will be greatly missed and remembered forever for he was one of a kind.
He was shy …until he got to know you, then you were hooked. He was beloved by all who knew him. He was humble and treated everybody the same. Like family. So, we're asking all of his family to come celebrate the life of a man who we all had the pleasure of calling son, brother, “brah”, father, uncle, Tio, Nino, Dziadek (ja-gee = grandpa in Polish) or simply, “Big John”.
In lieu of flowers, our family is asking for donations to the charity "K9s for warriors." This charity rescues dogs from high kill shelters to train and pair them with disabled veterans as service animals to improve the veteran's quality of life and provide companionship.
A Memorial service for John will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.funerariadelangelSL.com for the Patronski family.
