On July 28th, beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and grandfather, John Lawrence "Larry" Cawood passed from this life into the arms of God at the age of seventy-five in Tucson, Arizona.
Larry was born on April 3rd, 1944 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He was married to Clare (McEachron) of Stoughton, Massachusetts for fifty-two years and they have two children, and four grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Paul, 49 years old of Las Vegas, Nevada; he is married to Kelly (Rupp) and they have two children, Logan Calinao and Eric Erickson. His daughter Cindy, 47 years old of San Antonio, Texas, is married to Keith Gedick and they have two children, Zoeii Snyder, and Rebekah Gedick. Larry's sister, Ruthie, lives in Florida with her husband, Don Crosby and their children and grandchildren.
Throughout his life Larry was an avid traveler who spent most of his time in his 5th wheel with his beautiful wife, Clare, and their two dogs, Lucy and Brandi. When not traveling they enjoyed sitting on the porch of their home in Tucson, Arizona watching the hummingbirds at the feeders as well as several species of wildlife in their quaint yard.
Larry was a journeyman electrician who took pride in his career accomplishments, whether in the aerospace industry, or with the Local IBEW - he excelled at whatever he did. After retirement he enjoyed yardwork and sprucing up the house in Tucson, Arizona.
Larry was known for his sense of humor and sharp wit that always lit up the room. He was always willing to help in a time of need, and back in the day he only demanded a few beers and some extra time to "shoot the shit!" He was cool like that. His favorite pastime was New England sports teams, golf, and eating delicious desserts after a fantastic meal - followed by a short head nodding nap battle on the couch (he refused to take a nap on the bed).
As a family our fondest memories were summertime down the Cape. Larry would put the boat in the water and fun always followed!
Larry fought hard in the end, and his exceptional commitment to the love of his life, Clare, became absolutely crystal clear after his passing. Their love is one for the history books; and although he had a crankiness to him that we loved, there will never be a question about the depth of his love for his family! He lived with purpose, and fulfilled his purpose well.
Rest easy Larry, you created a legacy that will live on through every one who was honored to know you, and the world is a better place because you lived!
You will be missed beyond comprehension!
To God be the glory.
There will be a memorial service held in Las Vegas in the fall. Details will follow.
