Joel Isaiah Quijada entered this world on Monday, August 22, 2011, at 13:48, at Banner UMC in Tucson Arizona. To his proud parents, Rogelio Quijada II and Holly Snaman. Joel made his debut on the expected due date, courtesy of a medical induction. If it were up to him, he might have preferred a few more days nestled inside. Roy had his own plans for the delivery, inviting a lively a crowd of loved ones. Joel was welcomed into a big bustling and loving family!
Joel began his educational journey at Children’s Learning Adventure daycare before moving on to Elvira Elementary School where he spent his kindergarten through 6th grade years. Transitioning to 7th grade, Joel continued his academic journey at Challenger Jr High before settling at the Academy Of Math and Science.
Joel's presence illuminated the lives of those around him with his captivating eyes and an infectious smile that could brighten any room. Gifted both academically and athletically, he found his passion on the basketball court, recently securing a spot as a starting player. Known for his friendly demeanor and quick wit, Joel effortlessly made friends and entertained as the class clown. Despite his age, Joel experienced adventure and travel, having explored six states, Mexico, various amusement parks, sandy beaches, and scenic mountains.
Growing up in two households, Joel experienced double the love. From family moments and celebrations, birthdays to holidays, so many were able to celebrate him, share a part in his life and pour their love into him.
Tragically, both Joel and his father, Roy, were taken from this world prematurely on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
Joel is proceeded in passing by his Nana Maria Quijada. Joel is survived by his mother, Holly Snaman, and stepmother, Heather Alvarez. As the youngest of five siblings, he leaves behind his older sister, Itzel Valeria Quijada, older brother, Rogelio Quijada III, older sister, Bianca Alvarez, and older brother, Noah Alvarez. Joel’s memory lives on in the hearts of his Tata, Papa, Gigi, Nana Candy, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends.
Let's cherish Joel's memory for his industrious spirit, infectious charisma, playful humor, boundless energy, and wisdom beyond his years—a loving soul that will forever reside in our hearts. We love you Joel.
A funeral service for Joel will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Vida Nueva Church of God, 330 W Nebraska St, Tucson, AZ 85706. Following the funeral service will be a committal and burial from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
