Joan Frances (Hebert) King, 73, of Vail, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, Louis, son and daughter, brother and sisters, step son and daughter on January 17, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She could not overcome the complications brought on by a stroke. Joan was born to Frances and Paul Hebert in Bristol, Connecticut on June 20, 1950. She grew up in a large, close family in Taftville, CT.
Joan earned her associate’s degree from Mohegan College and her bachelor's degree in Accounting from Thomas Edison State University. She served as the Controller at Packard Press in Philadelphia and eventually retired from her Treasurer position at Kinney Pike Insurance in Rutland, VT. Joan was a talented golfer and one of the few women who played on the Kinney Pike team.
She and her husband settled in Vail, Arizona where she became very involved in the community. She was a devout parishioner at St. Rita in the Desert and an active member of the Newtowners Club of Vail. Joan’s greatest pride was her and her husband’s children, grandchildren, and grand nieces and nephews.
Joan is survived by her husband Lou, children Jody and Paul, step-children Jeff, Jan, and Lauren, siblings Mary, Tom, Peter, Margaret and Chris, grandchildren and a large and loving extended family. She was predeceased by step-son Steve and brother Michael.
Joan was a pillar of strength and grace who touched the lives of all who met her. She was deeply loved and will be missed.
Viewing will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:30-11:30 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery, 5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ 85712. Funeral services and burial will follow at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery.
