Pancost, Jerry Lee; 81, passed away on March 14, 2017 after an extended battle with COPD. He was born in Battle Creek Michigan on August 26, 1935 to George & Hazel (Pat) Pancost. He moved to Tucson Arizona with his family at age 16. While attending Tucson High he met his soulmate, Sandra Gay Ames whom he married on May 4th, 1954. After high school he served four years in the United States Navy as a Seaman 1st Class on the Essex Class aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet .
In his professional life, Jerry was a skilled tradesmen in the flooring industry. He owned and operated Arizona House of Carpets successfully for 25 years. After retiring he sold the business to his son, Darwin Pancost. Jerry's ability to work with his hands was also apparent in his passion for motorsports, especially Volkswagens. Being a true pioneer of his day, he built and raced many show winning sandrails, hotrods, and boats. There wasn't anything he couldn't repair or build.
Jerry was never one to sit idle, his beloved 6 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren made sure to occupy any spare moment. He was always willing to offer his knowledge and time to anyone who needed it. Jerry was from the Silent Generation, often referred to as the Luckiest Generation in modern times. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra Gay (Ames) Pancost, children Darwin Pancost, Pam Bravo, & Page Done, grandchildren Cameron Pancost, Brandon Sarff, Cheyanna Tullgren, Kyle Nunn, Brittany Bravo, and Kayla Bravo.
A private family burial will be held at East Lawn on Friday March 24, 2017. A celebration of life will be announced later this month. Donations to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (https://hssaz.org/) in lieu of flowers would be greatly preferred.
