Jennie Elizabeth Lanning

Jennie was born in 1960, to parents Anita Gillespie and Carlton Gillespie Jr. within Tucson, Arizona. Jennie had graduated high school from Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California, in the year 1977. She then afterwards became a proud graduate of the University of Washington.

Jennie was married to Barney Eugene “Jack” Lanning Jr. in 1995, and the two had divorced in 2001. She is survived by her son Jacob Lanning, her sister Susan Gillespie, and her niece Heather Wood. She will be deeply missed by her loving family, her many friends, and the many students whose lives she had enriched.

Jennie was a skillful and loving elementary school teacher with over thirty years of experience, with the majority of her time spent at Sewell Elementary. She had adored her career, delighting in granting her students a well-rounded education. She was especially fond of teaching History, which even extended to her hobbies as well. She held an enduring fondness and fascination with the events of yesteryear; with classical-era Disney, early 20th century history, and even Medieval European history being among her most favorite of topics.

A memorial service will be held at the East Lawn Palms Mortuary upon Saturday August 19th, at 1:00 pm.
