Jason Wayne Vogler died on 11 July in Tucson Arizona. He passed away peacefully in his sleep from complications while battling an auto-immune disease. Known to his family and friends as Jake, he was born 18 December 1938, in Roger’s City, Michigan. He graduated from Rogers City High School in 1956, and later married Elsie May Voda in 1959. He sold insurance and moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1970, getting a job at the copper mines. He later moved into the air conditioning business working air balance for new buildings. He achieved his childhood dream of becoming a pilot, obtaining his private license and owning a small Cherokee 180. Jake was a passionate golfer and was active in the Over the Hill gang golf group. He gave back to the community through volunteer services to his church, where he was a well-known presence. He also volunteered through Interfaith Community Services as a driver for home bound members of the community.
Jake is survived by his life partner of over 20 years, Barbara Appleton, and his son, Louis (Anna) and son-in-law, Michael. He has 4 grandchildren, Louis’ adult children, Victoria and Nathan, and Jay’s adopted children Lillian and Daniel. He is preceded in death by his wife Elsie and son Jason; by his parents, Herman and Evelyn Vogler; by his two sisters, Ruie Pines and Joan Powers; and, by his brothers Herman Jr and Neil Vogler.
