James E. Morrison Sr. went home to be with his Lord on July 2, 2018. He was born on December 3, 1925, in Northeastern Ohio. He was one of 4 children born to Stanley and Violet Morrison. He was married to Mary Arth in 1951 and together they had 6 successful and loving children.
Jim served in the Air Force from 1944-1946. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Good conduct medal, and the World War II victory medal for his service. He had the privilege to be part of the honor guard and traveled to Washington DC.
Jim graduated from the Creighton University College of Pharmacy in 1955. He was a practicing pharmacist for over 50 years. He enjoyed going to the college reunions and was present at his 50th pharmacy class reunion. He received an honor award by the Arizona State Board of pharmacy for being a registered pharmacist for 50 years at a special celebration in Phoenix in 2016.
After retiring, Jim discovered his love of dancing and took formal classes twice a week at Studio West in Tucson. He was in numerous dance contests and legend has it, the oldest. His love for music and dance led him to participate in weekly ukulele classes with his very good friend Michael. He strummed his ukulele for years in many concerts sharing music with senior centers across Tucson.
Jim was a devoted Christian and attended Christ Community Church for over a decade. His love of his Lord and mankind were displayed everyday with his gratefulness, his kind words, and constant zest for life. His love for his Lord and his faith were shared with all he encountered on a daily basis.
Jim is survived by his five children, 6 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren and several grand dogs. His constant companion Oso will miss him dearly. He is reunited with his son, William.
As a family, we want to thank each person who touched my father’s life at the Ocotillo house.
They were truly kind and caring.
