James Alan Edwards died peacefully on March 25, with his family by his side. He was born on January 17, 1958, in White Plains, New York. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his daughters, Kerri Alaine and Taylor Marie, his sister, Karen Edwards Varholak, his brother, Richard Edwards, and his mother, Edith Edwards Shields.
Jim was an engineer by education and profession. He earned a Bachelors degree in electrical and computer engineering from George Mason University and a Masters degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida. He was employed in the aerospace industry throughout his career. During his twenty years in Tucson, until his retirement from Raytheon Missile Systems in 2015, his career involved increasing levels of responsibility in systems test, systems engineering, and program management.
Jim’s private life was focused on his family and home. He continually challenged his daughters to do their best, and that is reflected in their accomplishments in life. He enjoyed traveling with his family, and had a special affection for the Hawaiian Islands. He became interested in cooking, then became serious and developed his interest into an expert level of culinary art. At home, he enjoyed the birds, coyotes and deer that were always nearby. He was especially fond of his little family dog, Willy.
